Inspiration that would transform an industry came from an unlikely source
In 1997, Hero Nutritionals became the first company to introduce a nutrient-rich, all-natural gummy bear for children called Yummi Bears®. The inspiration for these yummi gummies came from Founder & CEO Jennifer Hodges’ nieces and nephews. They were always ooh-ing and ahhh-ing over the sweet treats in the candy store, especially the irresistible little gummy bears. But they were full of sugar and preservatives with no nutritive value.
