When you’re healthy and fueling your body properly, it shows. Wholesome food nourishes our bodies from the inside out. Processed foods and refined carbohydrates can damage your skin, but healthy foods can repair skin and hair to make it supple, healthy and give you a glow, even in the dead of winter.

Carrots

This wonder vegetable isn’t just beneficial for eyesight. Did you know carrots can help clear breakouts? Just a half-cup of baby carrots each day will give you the necessary amount of vitamin A to limit overproduction of cells in the skin’s outer layer, which causes breakouts. These magical orange treats also help reduce the development of skin cancer cells. Enjoy your daily dose of carrots with a side of hummus.

Blueberries

This yummy fruit is packed full of antioxidants and vitamin C. Antioxidants counteract the radicals in your skin that can cause inflammation and aging. This wrinkle-fighting vitamin is found in brightly colored fruits and vegetables, like blueberries, that make for healthy, young and bright skin. If you are looking for ways to avoid signs of aging, just add blueberries to your diet. Blueberries make a perfect topping for your morning cereal or yogurt.

Avocados

This fruit is so much more than just a delicious treat to eat. Loaded with a multitude of vitamins and nutrients, avocados can add shine to your hair and softness to your skin. The monounsaturated fatty acid found in avocados helps with maintaining moisture in your skin leaving it hydrated and soft. Avocados can even be used to treat an itchy, dry scalp. Just massage some into your scalp and the proteins will work their magic increasing the overall health of your hair. As you can tell, there are many uses for avocados. Enjoy them on top of a salad or as a hydrating mask for your hair and skin.

Spinach

Did you know that spinach can be used as a cure for acne? Just blend spinach and a little water together and apply to your face. The spinach face mask will remove acne-causing dirts and oils from your skin leaving it feeling fresh and rejuvenated.  Consuming spinach in your diet daily will also result in a shiny, healthy head of hair. Try blending spinach together with other fresh veggies to make a tasty juice.

Kiwis

Believe it or not, kiwis contain more vitamin C than an equivalent amount of oranges. One of the major benefits of vitamin C is the production of collagen, a tissue protein that helps firm and repair your skin. Collagen also allows your scalp to absorb the nutrients it needs to keep your hair healthy and strong. Add kiwis to a smoothie or on top of your bowl of oatmeal.
